Chrome Experiments

The technology behind Google's browser, Chrome source code in the open-source project called Chromium. Developers contribute new ideas and features to this community project in building a better browser. Chrome comes from the best ideas of this project.

At a HTML 5 presentation just a few weeks ago at Google I/O 2009, Matthew Papakopos discussed the vision for the browser and showcased some of the new features in Chrome 2 for Windows.

News: This week, Google released the 'dev' version for the Chrome Mac AND Linux versions. I'm looking forward to installing the Ubuntu distro.

Chrome Experiments features community posts of code and creative examples of using the new features in Chrome.

One example, Bomomo by Phillipp Lenssen, uses sprites and canvas tags.

Not familiar with sprites? Animated sprites are bitmaps that are displayed on the screen with a delay in a sequence that gives the appearance of animation. Canvas lets you add a graphic palette. Combined with mouse movements, sprites can give the user a fun 'cat and mouse' experience.

Check out the other examples on Chrome Experiments. Have fun. Try out some experiments on your own.
